Getting started
What is WITA?▾
WITA is an automatic life tracker for iPhone. It quietly records where your time goes during the day, sorts it into five categories (Home, Work, Active, Out, Transit), and turns it into daily timelines, weekly trends, and goals. There are no timers to start and nothing to log. You live your life; WITA keeps the record.
How does WITA know where I am and what I'm doing?▾
WITA uses your iPhone's built-in, energy-efficient location and motion signals to recognize the places you visit, how long you stay, and whether you're walking, working out, or on the move. All of this is processed directly on your device. You don't need to check in anywhere or press anything.
Why does WITA ask for "Always" location access?▾
Because WITA's whole job is to track your day in the background, even when the app is closed. With "While Using the App" access, WITA could only see the minutes you spend looking at it, which would defeat the purpose.
"Always" access does not mean constant GPS. WITA is designed around low-power signals and typically uses under 1% of your battery per day. You can review or change this permission anytime in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
How long until I see my data?▾
Tracking begins as soon as you grant permissions, and your first hours appear the same day. Over the first several days, WITA learns your regular places and the picture gets noticeably sharper. Give it a week before judging it; that first full week is when it clicks.
Do I have to do anything every day?▾
No. That's the point. Open the app whenever you're curious. The only optional habit worth having is a quick glance in the evening to correct anything WITA got wrong, which also makes it smarter about your places.
Tracking and accuracy
Will WITA drain my battery?▾
No. WITA typically uses under 1% of your battery per day. It does not run GPS continuously; it relies on the same energy-efficient signals iOS itself uses in the background. Most people can't tell it's running, which is exactly how it should feel.
What are the five categories?▾
- Home: time at the place you sleep and live
- Work: time at your workplace or place of study
- Active: workouts, runs, walks, gym sessions
- Out: restaurants, friends, shops, errands, life outside
- Transit: time spent getting from one place to another
WITA put my time in the wrong category. How do I fix it?▾
Tap the time block in your timeline and reassign it. WITA remembers your correction and applies it to that place going forward, so the same mistake shouldn't happen twice. A few corrections in the first week is normal; after that it should rarely need your help.
I work from home. How does that work?▾
You decide how your time should count. You can leave everything as Home, or correct your working blocks to Work and WITA will follow your lead. Many remote workers keep mornings as Work and evenings as Home at the same address.
Does WITA track me if my phone is off or left at home?▾
No. WITA can only see what your iPhone sees. If your phone is off, out of battery, or sitting on your kitchen table while you're out, that time shows as a gap or as time at the phone's location. You can correct any block afterwards.
Why is there a gap in my timeline?▾
Gaps appear when your iPhone had nothing reliable to report. Common causes: the phone was off or out of battery, Airplane Mode was on, Low Power Mode limited background activity, or the app was force-quit from the app switcher.
Two tips: don't swipe WITA away in the app switcher, and keep Low Power Mode for emergencies. WITA shows gaps honestly instead of guessing, and you can fill them in manually.
Does Low Power Mode affect tracking?▾
It can. Low Power Mode tells iOS to reduce background activity for all apps, so days spent in Low Power Mode may be less detailed. Normal charging habits and normal mode give the best results.
Does WITA work when I travel abroad?▾
Yes, everywhere in the world, and tracking itself doesn't need an internet connection. New cities mean new places, so expect to name a few favorites in your first days somewhere; after that, trips are tracked like home.
Does WITA work offline?▾
Tracking works fully offline, because it happens on your device. The only feature that needs an internet connection is the AI chat.
How accurate is it?▾
Very good, not perfect. WITA depends on your iPhone's signals, and no phone reports reality flawlessly: a category can occasionally be wrong, a short stop can be missed, a place can need renaming. That's why every block is correctable in two taps, and why WITA learns from every correction you make. Treat it as an honest picture of your time, not a courtroom record.
Wita AI (The Auditor)
What is WITA AI?▾
The Auditor is the AI inside WITA. Ask it anything about your time in plain words and it answers from your real data. It's direct, a little dry, and not in the business of flattering you. If you worked 38 hours, it will not say 50.
What can I ask it?▾
Anything about your time. For example:
- "How much did I work this week compared to last week?"
- "How many times did I go to the gym this month?"
- "What was my longest day at home?"
- "Am I spending more time out lately?"
- "Can you fix my time?"
Is AI WITA always right?▾
Its numbers come from your recorded data, so they're as accurate as your timeline. The conversational part is AI-generated and can occasionally phrase things oddly or misunderstand a question. When in doubt, the stats screens in the app are the source of truth.
Which languages does the chat support?▾
English, for now. More languages are on the list.
Subscription and billing
How much does WITA cost?▾
WITA is $5.99 per week or $39.99 per year (or the equivalent in your local currency, shown in the App Store at purchase). New users get a 3-day free trial. The yearly plan works out dramatically cheaper if you plan to stick with it, and most people do once they've seen their first month.
Will I be charged after the free trial?▾
Yes, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically through your Apple ID until you cancel. Full details are in our Terms of Use.
How do I cancel my subscription?▾
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, select WITA, and tap Cancel Subscription. Important: deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Only the steps above do.
How do refunds work?▾
All payments go through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple directly. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com, signed in with the Apple ID you used to purchase.
I got a new iPhone. How do I restore my subscription?▾
Install WITA on the new phone, sign in with the same Apple ID, and use Restore Purchases in the app's settings. Your subscription follows your Apple ID, not the device.
If I delete and reinstall the app, will my data be deleted?▾
Yes! If you plan to delete and reinstall, make sure to export your date before doing so and contact us. We do not store any copy of your days, time, activities for privacy purposes. We cannot restore it if you havent exported it.
Privacy and data
Where is my location data stored?▾
On your iPhone. Your location history, places, and timeline are stored in the app's private storage on your device, not on our servers. We can't see where you've been, and there is no copy of your history anywhere else. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Can anyone else see where I've been?▾
No. Your history lives on your device and is protected by your iPhone's own security (passcode and Face ID). WITA has no sharing features, no social feed, and no way for another person to view your data remotely.
Do I need an account?▾
No. WITA works without sign-up: no email, no password, no profile. Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID, and your data is tied to your device.
How do I delete my data?▾
Delete the app. Because everything is stored on your device, deleting WITA permanently deletes your entire history with it. There is nothing left on our side to erase, because we never had it. Just remember to also cancel your subscription in Settings if you don't plan to return.
Troubleshooting
I reinstalled the app and my history is gone.▾
Your history is stored only on your device, so deleting the app deletes it permanently. This is a deliberate privacy choice, but it means deletion is final. Your subscription is safe though: use Restore Purchases to get access back, and WITA starts recording again immediately.
Tracking seems to have stopped. What should I check?▾
- Location permission is set to Always (Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > WITA)
- Motion & Fitness permission is on
- Low Power Mode is off
- You haven't force-quit WITA from the app switcher
- Background App Refresh is enabled for WITA
If all of that looks right and it still misbehaves, restart your iPhone, then write to us.
The AI chat isn't responding.▾
The chat needs an internet connection, so first check Wi-Fi or mobile data. If you're online and it's still quiet, it's usually a brief service hiccup; try again in a few minutes. If it persists, contact us and we'll look into it.
Is WITA available on Android or iPad?▾
WITA is built for iPhone, where the tracking works best. There is no Android or iPad version right now.
